I was invited to design the visual identity, logo, and trophy for the first edition of the David Miranda Award — an annual prize that recognizes and supports impactful projects and initiatives in the favelas and peripheral communities of Rio de Janeiro.
The selection of projects is guided by the core causes of the Instituto David Miranda.
Each year, more than R$500,000 (half a million reais) in prizes are distributed to strengthen those who are already transforming their communities on the ground.
The first edition of the Award (2024) received 404 project submissions from across Rio de Janeiro. Twenty-one projects reached the final round, with seven receiving prizes of up to R$70,000, and fourteen others receiving R$2,000 each — totaling more than R$400,000 invested in social initiatives.
The diversity of submissions reflects the Award’s commitment to supporting key causes such as LGBT+ equality, sports and leisure programs, mental health and addiction recovery, and animal protection — all aimed at fostering a more inclusive, supportive, and participatory society.
